Prescribed Body Corporate Representing the Ngadjon of Malanda
Choorechillum is the Prescribed Body Corporate which represents the Ngadjon people and traditional custodians of the land. We are committed to maintaining traditional and contemporary use of the land whilst adhering to the cultural heritage of the Ngadjon people. We work with the community to increase awareness and education surrounding Indigenous culture and strive to increase engagement with the land’s traditional owners. Primarily we deal with cultural areas in different Aboriginal communities. We are funded by the North Queensland Council and are available to chat through our services over the phone or via email.

Committed Custodians of the Land
As the Prescribed Body Corporate, Choorechillum is committed to maintain traditional and contemporary land use activities. We have a walk in visitor centre where people passing through can learn about the culture and heritage of the Ngadjon people and the land on which they are visiting. We also work with different Aboriginal communities on the maintenance of country, specialising in our particular wet and tropical environment.

Aboriginal Cultural Heritage
We are available to consult on the cultural heritage of the land. Informing and educating the occupiers of Malanda and surrounds is an important aspect of our work as the Prescribed Body Corporate. We aim to increase engagement with the traditional owners of the land so the importance of its heritage can be known and respected throughout the area. Working with Indigenous communities and others, we hope to instil a deep love and respect for the land that mirrors our own for all occupants.
